The grants available from the NSW government provide eligible strata apartment buildings funding to retrofit buildings with EV charging infrastructure. The advantage for owners include improvement to amenities, creating a selling feature for renters and prospective owners.
It is a condition of the grant that the new infrastructure be available to each resident, for example, a flat cable fitted throughout the garage area that includes a wireless network to allow you to access software updates in your car. There is no need then for individuals to wire a charger to their meter, they can simply plug into the infrastructure.
The government will cover 80% of the cost to retrofit your building and 50% of the software subscription for 2 years.
There is further information to which buildings are eligible on the website, a feasibility report is required as part of the grant submission. This can be co-funded and performed by the NSW government or a report can be submitted by an independent consultant.
The Strata committee will need to approve the application for funding and 2 x commercial quotes for the electrical infrastructure works is required. Importantly there must be sufficient capacity in the Capital Works Fund.
